COPA 2017 Judges
We have brought together some of the best industry minds in advertising, art direction, broadcast, digital, newspapers, magazines and web design to be on the judging panels this year. We are honoured to have these people as judges this year for COPA 2017. We thank them for their time and support.
Agnes Zalewski is the principal of Blunt Strategic, a full-service marketing and communications agency based in Calgary, Alberta. A seasoned marketing, communications and publishing specialist, Agnes launched Blunt in 2012, venturing on her own after a successful corporate career. Prior to starting Blunt, Agnes served as the group publisher of JuneWarren-Nickle’s Energy Group, publishing titles such as Oilweek and Oilsands Review. Agnes was also the inaugural editor-in-chief for Alberta Oil magazine and the president of the board of the Alberta Magazine Publisher’s Association. Agnes has an MBA in Marketing from Dalhousie University as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta.

Allan is currently serving as Managing Editor of Yahoo Canada Finance. Prior to that, he was a Senior Editor on the Yahoo Canada news desk for about four years. Before coming to Yahoo, Allan was with Reuters for nearly seven years where he worked as a photo editor, an online news editor and finally an assignment editor. Allan is also a past COPA award winner for his work on the Yahoo News Digest app.

Alice is an award-winning writer and editor with more than 15 years of international experience in print and online publishing. She began her career in her native England at Redwood, the UK’s leading custom content agency, before moving to Toronto in 2005. At Totem (formerly Redwood Custom Communications), she helped launch five new titles, including Aeroplan Arrival – a travel magazine and website for frequent fliers – and At Home with CENTURY 21, a U.S.-based shelter magazine. In 2012, Alice joined House & Home as Executive Editor, and was promoted to Editorial Director in 2015. She oversees the content management of all House & Home channels, including the print magazine, website and tablet.

Amber began her career as a 360 planner on a CPG account in 2009 and she has expanded her account list over the past 8 years to include technology, finance and government. She predicted that the digital world was going to be complicated and exciting so she steered her career in that direction. Amber enjoys helping clients navigate and understand the finer points within the digital space to build their business and stir their future communications. Currently she is the Digital Supervisor on the Ontario Government business at PHD Media.
Andrew brings more than two decades of experience as a reporter, editor, manager and leader in both conventional and digital journalism. He is currently VP, Digital at The Canadian Press. During his career Andrew has been the Director of Globalnews.ca, Editor in Chief at MSN Canada, Producer for CBCSports.ca and a newspaper reporter at the Financial Post. He has a MA in Journalism from Western University.
Asif is a Digital Account Director at PHD Canada, helping develop and define digital strategy for a variety of clients. With 15 years of experience primarily in the digital space, and working at media agencies, media sales companies, and marketing departments at major Canadian advertisers, Asif has built a deep understanding of the digital landscape and continues to push higher adoption and digital diversification through better education.
Berta is a versatile marketing professional with over 25 years of experience. A creative strategist versed in the marketing disciplines, specializing in digital/traditional and direct response marketing. Principled with adherence to best practices Berta lists working within both the SMB and corporate sectors. Currently Berta holds the position of National Marketing & Communications Manager at Muscular Dystrophy Canada - in the not of profit sector.
Brandon is Vice President at Rogers Media responsible for multiplatform and content sales strategy. More recently he launched Elevate, Rogers’ internal agency designed with a focus on merging creative with science to drive better outcomes for marketers through data that can inform ideas, content and solutions. In his 18-year career Brandon has launched several leading publishing brands and has been a strong supporter of the advertising industry serving on boards such as PMB, the Advertising Club of Toronto and several committees including judge for the Media Innovation Awards. Prior to joining Rogers, Brandon held leadership positions at Sports Illustrated, Spafax (WPP) and CanWest.
Brandon has 10 years of Product Management experience and currently leads the strategic direction, planning, and digital marketing of the financial media website Morningstar.ca. As Product Manager he oversees the teams responsible for content creation, redistribution, video production, social presence, and site development. Additionally, Brandon consults with Online Brokers, Media Companies, and Asset Managers to help define and execute their digital strategy in the Financial Services market. He holds a Masters of Information Technology from the University of Sydney.
Brenda Jane Johnstone is the owner and publisher of Convenience & Carwash Canada magazine, a national, bi-monthly trade publication targeted to the owners and operators of convenience stores, retail petroleum and carwash sites in Canada. She is the President of the Manitoba Magazine Publishers’ Association and a partner with the Western Convenience Stores Association organizing their industry trade event and charity golf tournament. Brenda is an avid golfer and outdoors person who loves nothing better than to jump in her kayak on Lake of the Woods at her cottage for a trip around the bay while photographing the wildlife to include in her yearly calendars.
Brian is the editorial director of IT World Canada, where he's been working for eight years. Since 2009, Brian and the ITWC team have enjoyed success as the most-award winning company in the B2B category at the COPA awards. Brian is a graduate of Carleton University's journalism program and previously worked with Discovery Channel Interactive. When he's not covering the tech industry, Brian likes to get out on the water in a canoe. He lives in Toronto and has two cats.
Bruce has been recognized as an innovative and dynamic leader in the Media agency business for over 25 years. He has always championed collaboration, creativity and strategy, focused on the deep understanding of people. Past President of mec, CEO @ Starcom MediaVest and now President of True Media, Bruce has actively contributed to the industry as a CMDC board member, Numeris and PMB Executive, co-chair of the Media Innovation Awards. He is excited by the impact of new technology and the power of media-data-creative working together to provide business building solutions.

Over his 25-year career in the publishing Industry, Camile has been involved in many aspects of publishing both from the Publisher’s side and from the supplier’s side. Camile is now a consultant specialized in subscription Marketing and database Fulfillment. Prior to this Camile, has been Director of Client Services in the fulfillment industries. In this role, he has worked over the years with publishers to help them develop and built their digital offerings. He also worked for publishers like Avid Media, TC Media and Gesca as Circulation Managers.
Carl is the leader and creative mastermind of Cayenne Creative, Ottawa’s spiciest Brand & Advertising Boutique. He specializes in corporate strategic communications, which includes branding, print advertising, web interface, navigation, architecture and social media strategy. Carl received the prestigious PROFIT HOT 50 in 2007 as #17 in the list of Canada’s Top Emerging Growth Companies. He has also been nominated by La Cité collégiale for the prestigious Premier’s Award for outstanding career achievement and community contributions in Ontario. Catharine a judge from Saskatchewan is president of Bradbury Branding & Design with extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. She is the winner of over 300 international and national design awards. Her work has appeared in numerous international design publications and has been profiled in prestigious magazines and books such as Communication Arts, Applied Arts, How and Graphis. Catharine studied graphic design and fine art in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia at the prestigious Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.
Charles Lim is a designer, developer and digital director in Toronto with ten years in publishing and media. He’s passionate about the intersection of design, technology and content, and is the Director, Digital Platforms at Totem. You can learn more about him at http://charleslim.net
Chris Skinner is a digital media executive with more than 15 years experience, currently serving as Vice President, Digital Media at Anthem Media Group. Previously, Chris was the head of digital for CTV.ca at Bell Media, overseeing the digital strategy for some of Canada’s top TV programs including The Amazing Race Canada (CSA winner 2014) and MasterChef Canada. Prior to joining CTV, Chris held several senior digital positions at St. Joseph Media, publisher of award-winning magazines such as Toronto Life, Fashion, Canadian Family, and Weddingbells.
Chris McDonald has spent time on the agency and media side of the business and is currently the Director of Sales and Marketing for EiEi Home a home renovation website. Chris brings an all world view to the judging panel this year as he was a judge at the prestigious Cannes Advertising International Awards in 2003.
Cory is owner/founder of CORE Communications and Marketing. He has held senior positions in Media, Creative, Innovation, Digital/Technology roles with some of Canada’s best agencies. Over the past 15+ years, he has brought award winning innovative strategies, solutions and creative executions to clients. A holistic thinker, he is constantly pushing and blurring the boundaries between consumer, media, technology and brands. Cory brings a distinct and future oriented viewpoint needed for success in a hyper-connected yet fragmented communications landscape. He has worked on esteemed clients such as Google, Tim Horton’s, Molson/Modello, Diageo, Bell, Kraft, Telus/Koodo, Audi, and many other brands.
Dale King is Director, Client Services, Nielsen, a leading global provider of information and analytics around what consumers watch and what they buy. Since June 2012, Dale has led the Canadian Watch Client Service team. Together with her team, they help clients better understand the Canadian advertising landscape – both digital and traditional. Dale has more than 25 years of experience in the media industry. Prior to joining Nielsen, Dale worked on both sales and editorial aspects at The Globe and Mail, Sun Media, LexisNexis Canada, and Canwest Interactive in the digital and traditional mediums.
Dennis Kelly is President of First Impressions Media. A Canadian, independent media planning and buying ad agency celebrating 21 years in 2016. He is a seasoned media planner/buyer/director/strategist, consultant, speaker, and sometimes golfer. Versatile at wearing many industry hats, his forte has been as a trusted steward for dozens of clients with advertising budgets from hundreds to millions. His skills have been tempered in the multi-media furnaces of Television and Radio and On-Line and Outdoor and Magazines and Newspapers, while crafting smart, efficient, creative plans for entities in multiple industries. Dmitry is a Director of Digital Operations, worked with Transcontinental Media and St. Joseph Communications. He helped Canada's most recognizable brands - like Toronto Life, Canadian Living, The Hockey News, Weddingbells and FASHION - evolve online, grow audiences and create more value for readers and partners, well beyond the printed page. Liz has been an active contributor to the Canadian digital marketing community for over 7 years. She has worked with a broad spectrum of clients across CPG, auto, retail and finance verticals and is currently leading dynamic digital conversations with her client partners at Tangerine and Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation. As Digital Director at PHD Media, Liz consistently creates innovative media strategies that deliver true measurable results for her clients. Liz’s dedication to the industry extends to her volunteer work on the CMDC Youth Ambassadors Committee where she was a key team member in launching the Young Blood awards in 2015. Liz earned her Undergraduate Degree from The University of Guelph in 2007, earned her Post-Graduate Honours Diploma from Humber College in 2010 where she studied Advertising Media Management and continues to learn everyday within this dynamic and powerful digital space.
Eric a new judge this year is based in Montreal and has worked in the magazine publishing industry with TC Media one of Canada’s largest media companies with an expertise in ad sales and marketing for the Quebec market. He has also worked with Desjardins as a marketing advisor with a focus on creating innovation. He is currently the Practice leader for Integria Consulting a firm that specializes in talent acquisition and training.

Eric Scott is an award winning Digital Media Producer and Art Director with more then 12 years of experience working in marketing communications. He has worked with hundreds of top tier agencies, advertisers and brands to create digital executions across a wide range of industries. Currently facilitating the digital art direction for leading Canadian broadcast properties including Dragons Dens, Heartland, 22 Minutes, X-Company, Pure, True North Calling and dozens more for CBC-Radio Canada.
Florence Butihen has been in the advertising industry for over 13 years with an early start working within the research sector. Her early years were focused within planning traditional media campaigns across major clients including Procter & Gamble, Unilever, and L'Oreal Paris. Her interests in the world of digital media found herself shifting her traditional media focus to a deeper dive within the digital space and touched new clients such as Kia, Hasbro and Microsoft Canada . She is currently at Omnicom Media Group’s newest agency, Hearts & Science, as the Director of Digital Investments on the Procter & Gamble business.
Franks Feckes is a web designer, programmer and digital marketer and is the owner of Trigarium. Franks has built and managed websites since 1999 and brings a wealth of web design expertise to this year’s judging panel. He is also the owner of Wood Stove Pools Inc. where they sells pool heaters and pizza ovens using wood burning technology.
Gah-Yee is currently serving as Director, Global Digital Brand Strategy at Scotiabank where she oversees digital marketing projects for Central America, South American, Canada and the English Caribbean markets. Prior to Scotiabank, she wasat MediaCom Canada, as the Director of Digital Strategy, working on Mars-Wrigley, PC Financial, Bayer and P&G accounts. Prior to joining MediaCom, she was the Director, Digital Activation at ZenithOptimedia Canada, Gah-Yee attended the University of Western Ontario and holds a BA Honours in Media, Information and Technoculture. Garth spent his first 20 years as a creative leader, building campaigns for some of the world’s most beloved brands including Disney, Pepsi, Campbell Soup Company, Duracell, Labatt, Kelloggs, Effem, and Kraft. Rising up through the ranks, he built his reputation doing creative differently and strategically – building campaigns that delivered measurable business results. Over the last few years Garth was the Canadian marketing consultant for VisitOrlando, home of Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld, propelling Canada to the number one international market position for the destination. Garth is now an Executive Recruiter; a tireless promoter of smart, talented marketing service professionals.
Graduating from the Sheridan College Print Media Program, Greg went on to work at newspapers, city magazines, trade publications and international specialty publications. He’s led teams to win over a dozen national magazine awards for design and content in print and online and built media products across many platforms, including tablet, interactive, customer facing, audio, video, podcast and on social platforms. Greg has a diverse set of skills ranging from editorial, photography, production, coding, event production, design, audience development and sales. He currently lives in North Vancouver and enjoys the mountain culture
With more than 20 years of experience in the magazine and photography industry, Guy Langevin has had the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the business. This, combined with his background as a designer, led him to become the editor-in-chief and art director of Photo Life and Photo Solution magazines. He has had the chance to collaborate with and befriend some of the best photographers in the country, and you’ll rarely see him without either his running shoes or camera
Haig Tossounian, President of Kooklo, has over 30 years of expertise in strategic branding and marketing for the B2B marketplace. Hugo Rodrigues is the managing editor of the Standard-Freeholder in Cornwall, Ont., working in a five-person newsroom to meet the demands of an online audience and a six-day-a-week print edition. Prior to this posting, he was a multimedia journalist in Brantford and Woodstock, Ont., using social media, live coverage and blogging to extend the reach of those publications. Hugo has been a board member of the Canadian Association of Journalists since 2005, serving as president from 2011-15. He continues to lead the CAJ’s awards program. He also served on the NNA board of governors from 2006-15.
Irene Fu is a digital professional with almost 20 years of experience since the earliest days of the Web, when PINE was the email client of choice. Currently, Irene is the Web Architect for the Toronto District School Board, leading and supporting digital projects and social media strategy. In her previous position, Irene was Web Development Manager for Business Information Group, the largest trade publisher in Canada. She was key in developing and executing digital strategies encompassing all business areas and social media, and oversaw dozens of digital properties and initiatives.
Jacquie is a publishing industry veteran with over 25 years of experience. She oversee's St Joseph's women's brands including FASHION, Weddingbells, Mariage Québec and Canadian Family, and she works closely with St. Joseph’s largest clients to create innovative and compelling cross platform branded content solutions. Prior to joining St Joseph Media she was Vice President & Group Publisher, English Brands, Groupe TVA, where worked on Canadian Living, ELLE Canada and The Hockey News. Jacquie is a member of the board of The Content Council in New York and a frequent speaker on branded content solutions across North America
Jacqueline Murdoch is the Director of Strategic Planning at Gaggi Media and has served as one of the media experts on the judging panel. She has extensive experience in digital as well as traditional media, and sits on 4 IAB Committees. She leads the planning and execution of both direct-to-consumer and B2B marketing campaigns, and delivers a passion for bringing data, insight and technology together to achieve business objectives. She is a strategic media and client management professional who is highly skilled at planning and executing across all media channels, including Digital, Social, SEO/SEM, TV, Radio, Print and OOH and has led teams at ZenithOptimedia, Mindshare, VMC Media and Genesis, as well as having her own shingle, when she had her own company Murdoch Media Management for 7 years. Jacqueline is a mother of 3, has run 13 marathons, 7 half marathons and 2 triathlons, and when not in training loves to travel.
James Zammit is a 20-year circulation/media veteran. James currently serves as the President of CircLink Group, an audience development organization, which he launched in 2008. In addition, James also serves as the co-CEO of Digitality Works Ltd., a digital media/online publishing provider, which he co-launched in 2009. Previously, James held the position of Director of Circulation with one of Canada’s largest publishing companies. James is also an elected leader with a global non-profit organization with nearly two-million members.
Jane is a 30-year veteran in women’s consumer and digital publishing and is currently Group VP/Publisher for Parents Canada Group (consisting of nine national parenting publications) and oversees the growth for both their print and digital properties. Jane is Group, VP for the newly acquired Diabetes Care Group (the largest media brand for Canadians living with type 2 diabetes). She grand mothered the brand into Family Communications in 2015, quickly making it the number one diabetes media brand in Canada. Prior, Jane has been VP Sales and Marketing for both 50Plus magazine and its website 50Plus.com (now Zoomer magazine) and Associate Publisher of Today’s Bride magazine, where she is still a contributing editor. She has been the president of the Advertising Club of Toronto and sat on the Boards of Vividata (formerly PMB) and Big Brother, Big Sisters of Canada.
Jay is an award-winning marketing communications professional. He is currently a Marketing Manager at CPA Canada responsible for developing and managing marketing strategies for the organization’s professional development products. He manages integrated marketing campaigns for conferences and courses, which include digital and print advertising, social media, email marketing, search marketing, content marketing and direct mail. He holds a Honours Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Interactive Multimedia from Algonquin College and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
Jennifer Reynolds is a creative and strategic thinker that’s constantly looking for ways to leverage her clients’ brands and provide strategic communications. With over 12 years’ experience in marketing communications, Jennifer helps a variety of local, national and international clients in areas of branding, digital, paid, influencer marketing and social media. At Edelman, Jennifer works with clients on developing and running social media strategies and managing an internal team of community managers. Jennifer leads several social media programs which regularly work with influencers, from Snapchat stars with over a million followers to local business owners, to help promote her clients’ brands through authentic voices.
Jennifer Villamere will bring her on stage improv skills as this year's MC for the 2017 COPA Awards event. Jennifer is a COPA award winner who has worked in online journalism for 16 years. Currently she is the Editor-in-Chief of Villamere: The Lowbrow Magazine of High-End CanLit, which is available online and also in print (ahh, how retro and quaint it is to be in print). She’s also an online entertainment writer for Entertainment Tonight Canada and an author whose debut novel is represented by the Carolyn Swayze Literary Agency. Villamere is a former Senior Web Editor at Canadian Living who has won two National Magazine Awards for her online content and lectured on online journalism at Ryerson University.
Jessica Ross is Multiplatform Content Director at TVA Group, responsible for driving the success of digital magazines, special issues and books. Jess has worked in a variety of management and editorial roles, including as Executive Editor and Acting Editor in Chief of Homemakers magazine; managing editor at Canadian Home Workshop and Associate Editor and Web Editor of IE:Money magazine. Jess enjoys volunteering for Magazines Canada and teaching Magazine Packaging at Ryerson University.
Julia Di Clemente
Julia is the Managing Director of Neo@Ogilvy Canada, a full-service media agency with a digital heart. She oversees account service, strategy, and execution, and as a digital native you’re as likely to find her sending Snaps as you are to catch her offering up stellar digital thought leadership. With a knack for driving results for Fortune 500 companies, it’s no surprise Marketing Magazine named Julia a Top 30 Under 30 in 2016. She holds a Bachelor in Mass Communications from Carleton and a Diploma in Advertising Media Sales from Humber, where she currently spends her spare time teaching media.
Julia provides strategic direction, planning and execution for a full range of integrated marketing programs. She leads a team of mobile, social, digital marketing and project management professionals to market Ontario as a preferred travel destination to attract Canadian and international tourists.
Julie Carl, the Deputy City Editor at the Toronto Star is an industry veteran and has travelled Canada during her career with stints as City Editor at the London Free Press, Content Editor of the Now Network in southern Ontario and then off to Nova Scotia to work as the managing editor of Valley Today. Her next stop was in New Brunswick as the editorial page editor of the Daily Gleaner in New Brunswick before landing as deputy editor at the Winnipeg Free Press. Along the way she has garnered a slew of journalism awards including a spot on the winning team of the fourth annual Brant County Literacy Council Spelling Bee, for which she was awarded a very nice bath sponge with a loofah on one side.
Kerry recently brought her digital zeal to TV, as managing editor of Global Edmonton. She was previously director of digital content at the Edmonton Journal, where she helped lead the revolution from the print past to the multimedia, multi-platform future.
As the Head of Digital, Editorial, at The Globe and Mail, Kevin Siu oversees digital news strategy and programming across all platforms. During his decade at The Globe, he has been the deputy executive editor (audience), the executive editor of features and the editor of the Life section. He started his career in media as the general manager, then associate publisher, of the digital culture magazine Shift.
A 15-year veteran of the Canadian magazine industry, Kim Shiffman has been managing editor of Today¹s Parent and todaysparent.com since March 2015. Previously, Kim served as managing editor at Connected Rogers (connectedrogers.ca) and Allergic Living (allergicliving.ca). Prior to that, she was senior online editor at Travelzoo (travelzoo.ca) and senior editor at Profit (profitguide.com). Kim graduated with high distinction from the University of Toronto and received a post-graduate diploma from Centennial College. She¹s married and the mom of two boys.
Linda Sibbald is a Toronto based Senior Web Designer and Accessibility/UI Specialist with a background in Behavioural Psychology and now resides in British Columbia. With 10 years’ experience in the digital design community; she has been a Team Leader for Hack-A-Thons hosted by user group HTML5 Toronto and Blackberry, a 5 year Stage Manager for FITC Toronto, a published writer for Computer Arts Magazine, a published photographer for Tourism in BC, and design winner recipient for one of the largest online fitness communities. Her passions are in digital arts, and the Web Accessibility Movement.
Lisa has ten years experience in media as an editor and writer and bring a creative charm to the COPA judging panel this year. Her work can be seen in publications such as Inside Fitness, Elle, Flare, Canadian Running, Today’s Bride and Ottawa Citizen. She has worked as a managing editor with Rogers for one of the B2B pubs and has even worked in Dubai on a an Environment magazine. In 2015, She ran a pilot for a new kids channel, a collaboration between Toronto Star Digital and Toronto.com. In 2009, she worked as a National Post reporter, continuing on to Sharp where she worked on its first Book for Men. Lisa has worked as a freelance writer since 2007. Lisa studied international relations at U of T in addition to achieving a diploma in Journalism.
Mara Gulens is an award-winning editor, writer and content strategist who has more than 25 years’ experience. She is an editor at CPA Canada where she manages the members’ enewsletter and a section of CPA Magazine. Mara was editor of CMA Magazine, which received the 2013 KRW Award for best issue, the online publication Microsoft Home Magazine and Canada Computes. Melody is one of our East coast judges this year and is the President + Creative Director of Fresh Media that she founded in in 2003. Michael Zimmermann has been bringing creative visions to life in the print and digital industry for two decades. He has built and led design and digital execution teams to launch scores of campaigns with brands such as IBM, Unilever, P&G, RBC, TD, CIBC, and House & Home Magazine. He spends much of his free time hiking and canoeing in the Canadian backcountry, and occasionally writes about his love of the outdoors. Associate Creative Director on the Ford Motors of Canada business at Young & Rubicam with Y&R winning the Ford Global Marketing Excellence award in 2006. Prior to that he worked at Bates as their Creative Director, where he worked on the Hyundai account and helped launch Foster's Light beer in Canada, with the "It's What's Inside That Counts" campaign, and to this day, receives royalties from the single that grew out of the award winning jingle.
Rebecca is the Publisher and Chief Operating Officer at Longwoods Publishing, publisher of academic, scientific and professional journals in the field of healthcare management. She brought her experience in marketing and communications from the education industry to publishing. Ryan Hobson is currently a Senior Digital Content Producer with Newcap Radio, primarily leading their three Vancouver radio stations digital strategies Prior to Newcap, he was the Interactive Content Manager for Corus Radio Vancouver, where he led their four stations as well as helped steer the National digital strategy for Corus. Ryan brings 12 years experience in Digital content strategy for not only the radio stations he has led at Newcap and Corus but is known for creating excellent relationships with clients and staff with a focus on engaging web publishing through various content management systems and social media. Living in Vancouver, he enjoys running, having just completed his first marathon in 2016.

She leads a team of content creators who strategize and produce content for print and digital properties, including the Toronto Star, thestar.com, Star Touch, Metro News and metronews.ca. Sarah’s background is in the magazine industry, where she has put her stamp on some of Canada’s top brands, including Today’s Parent and More. She has guided many of the country’s top writers to produce engaging and award-winning stories. She has served as a member of the judging committee for the National Magazine Award Foundation.
Scott Boniface is a content strategist, project manager, artist and entrepreneur from Toronto. Scott is the co-founder of creative agency Playground Inc. Susan Legge is a new COPA judge this year and is currently working on a new venture. She has work at YPNextHome.ca, as the lead of the YP.ca., city editor team and as the editor-in-chief and director of content and creative for a portfolio of publications that at one time included over 70+ national real estate, décor, luxury and lifestyle titles across Canada. Susan is active on a number of volunteer boards and committees, and was recently on the board of directors at BILD. Susan has a 2016 Redgee award for best editorial design to her credit and the YPNextHome app and website picked up three awards from WEBCON in 2015 for Favourite Internet Listing Service (ILS); Best Mobile Experience and Most Innovative ILS.

Wendy Schroder is a graphic designer with 20+ years in the Canadian publishing industry. She began freelancing in 2009 (Creativity2.ca), and is an admitted typophile whose work can currently be seen on the pages of Ryerson University Magazine, among others. She has previously served as a panel judge for the Kenneth R. Wilson Awards, the Sign Association of Canada and the Economic Developers’ Council of Ontario.

Previously, she was the director of digital marketing for Reader's Digest Canada for all their brands that included Reader's Digest, Best Health and Our Canada. She is a marketing pro with 20+ years experience in consumer marketing with the last 10 years in digital marketing/strategy and business development. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in Montreal.
